Turkish earthquake

ERS would like to express its concern and sympathy for Turkey and particularly the province of Elazig, which was struck by earthquake at in the early morning of 8 March, leaving villages badly damaged and one almost flattened, with resulting loss of life and possessions. As of writing, the area continues to be hit by aftershocks.

ERS has a particularly rich relationship with its Turkish membership, now standing at 447medical practitioners and only yesterday (8 March) carried out a Live presentation in the Turkish language in conjunction with the Turkish Thoracic Society.

Our thoughts are particularly with our two members in Elazig province, who will no doubt be in the forefront of efforts to deal with the impact of the seism on local health and welfare.

N. M. Siafakas,
ERS President
