A Sad Farwell...

It was with very great sadness in December that our Assembly heard the news of the loss of our colleague and friend Maurizio Vignola at the premature age of 40ys. I am sure all members will remember Maurizio for his tremendous work and diligence, especially in Group 3.2. He made significant scientific strides in his work on airway epithelial cells and their interactive role in the pathogenesis of airway inflammation and asthma. He was a high flying but very kind, enthusiastic clinical scientist and elegant speaker. His focus was to ensure that basic scientific developments could be translated to the bedside. Our Assembly will miss him.
