Maurizio Vignola Award on Innovation in Pneumology

Supported by an unrestricted grant from the Chiesi Foundation.
The award is dedicated to the memory of Prof. A. Maurizio Vignola (1964-2004), for his outstanding contribution to the field of respiratory medicine. It is a best publication award, and the scope of the research to be considered will be in the area of respiratory medicine. It will focus on the basic mechanisms in respiratory diseases.

Scientists who are ERS members and belong to countries of the European Community may apply for the award.
Applicants must submit one paper already published or accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal within the previous calendar year or current year (by the time of the application deadline), not including studies previously sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry. The main author of the paper must be aged under 45 years at the time of application deadline.

The winner will receive €20,000 to further investigate in the area of the publication and will be presented with the award during the 2008 Berlin Congress. He/she will be expected to give a presentation on the results of the publication submitted for the award at the ERS Annual Congress.

Closing date for applications was February 29, 2008. Notification of selection will be sent in May 2008.
