HERMES (Harmonised Education in Respiratory Medicine for European Specialists) was launched in the Spring of 2005 by the ERS in close collaboration with  FERS, the  UEMS Section of Pneumology,  EBAP and the Permanent working group of European Junior Doctors.

A Task Force of 13 experts, assisted by a team of national respondents representing all participating countries have successfully collaborated to develop the first generally accepted European syllabus in adult respiratory medicine.
