Educational Aims

The aims of this course are:
  • To give healthcare workers, who are or will be be working in a CF team, a jump start in the evidence-based state of the art basics of CF care
  • To promote a closer multi-disciplinary approach to CF care
  • To promote and facilitate transition from paediatric to adult care
  • To promote collaboration between CF care-givers throughout Europe
  • To increase the number of healthcare workers with adequate knowledge and interest in CF

Course Goals

At the end of the course participants will understand:
  • Key issues related to CF care
  • The importance of a team approach in the management of CF
  • Key factors for the organisation of CF care

Case Presentations

You are strongly encouraged to submit cases for discussion during the case review period. For easy submission, please follow the steps below:

  • Cystic fibrosis should be the theme of the case study 
  • Prepare your case study in a Word document of <200 words
  • Give a clear description of the patient, including the clinical manifestations and any radiological pictures or pathological findings
  • Include all images pertaining to the case study within the document
  • State the questions which you would like to be discussed by the participants
  • If your case study is selected, you will be asked to prepare a short PowerPoint presentation with a maximum of five slides

Bursaries (Available to ERS/ECFS Members only)

A limited number of bursaries, covering either full attendance or registration only, will be available to selected applicants under 40 years of age who are members of the ERS and ECFS and from countries with economies in transition. Selection from the pool of applicants will be made by the organising committee based on the submission of:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • A one-page personal statement explaining how you would apply the knowledge gained from this course

The deadline for applications for bursaries is 15 January 2010. Applicants will be notified of selection results by 5 February 2010.
