Simple test guides antibiotic prescriptions in primary care
A simple lab test can help primary care physicians decide which patients suffering from a respiratory tract infection will benefit from a course of antibiotics. The study, published ahead of print in the ERJ, has found that including a new diagnostic marker in a therapeutic strategy reduces antibiotic prescription rates by more than 40%.
