Course Modules
Online live lectures:
Synchronous web conferences closely simulate a class meeting. With this approach the speaker can make a slide presentation similar to a conference or classroom teaching. All participants can hear the speech of the presenter and simultaneously see the slides. If the Computer is equipped with a microphone participants can ask questions or discuss with the other participants. Alternatively, questions can be posed by text chat.

Educational Aims
After completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Screen patients at risk for COPD.
- Discuss the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of COPD, including current diagnostic criteria, outpatient pharmacological management and oxygen therapy, counseling and coordination of care and management of acute exacerbations requiring hospitalization.
Target Audience
The main target audience is trainees in respiratory medicine, internists, internal medicine residents, pulmonary medicine specialists and advanced practice nurses who participate in the screening, diagnosis and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and related disorders.
CME Accreditation
The ERS School web-based Course on COPD 2009 is accredited by the European Board for Accreditation in Pneumology (EBAP), a member of the European Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS).
The ERS designates this continuing medical education activity for a maximum of 7 European hours of credit. Each live lecture has been accredited for 1 hour of CME credits. Credits are only granted for the participation during the live event, not for viewing the recorded presentation.
