Aims

  • To provide a comprehensive understanding of the physiological basis of exercise testing


At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the indications and the protocols used in a clinical setting (i.e. incremental, constant work-rate)
  • Discuss the clinical applications of exercise testing in lung and heart diseases
  • Understand the utility of exercise testing in the prescription and evaluation of rehabilitation programmes
  • Recognise the emerging importance of exercise testing in the prognostic setting
